Give me Repentance

Gather my scattered mind, O Lord, and purify my hardened heart.

Give me repentance, even as Thou didst to Peter;

and heartfelt sighing, as Thou didst to the Publican;

and tears, as to the harlot;

So that with a great voice I may cry out unto Thee:

O God, save me, since Thou alone art compassionate and the Lover of Mankind.

Many times, as I offer praise, I am found committing sin;

For with my tongue I pronounce songs of praise, yet in my soul I think unseemly things;

But do Thou correct them both through repentance, O Christ God, and save me.
