Why is penal substitution believed by so many?
Here is a striking thought on one of the MAJOR differences between the Holy Orthodox Church and almost all of the rest of Christendom. God is Love. Review the Link Below. We do believe in redemption and that Christ died and was raised from the dead. Questions to ponder:
1.) What is the point of our Salvation by Christ?
2.) Did Christ take the penalty for us?
3.) Do you believe that Christ was punished FOR us?
4.) What was the penalty Christ paid, if He was only dead for 3 days for our Immortal God?
5.) Did an angry God provide the killing of His only begotten Son for us?
2Peter 1: 2-4
"Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust".
